Ken Darby and family are sad to announce the passing of their wife and mother. Lois was in all ways and all times the loving mother of four children, David, Allison (Tom), Randy, and Darryl (Lori). She married her husband, Ken, on the 7th of November in the year 1959. Sixty-five years later, she passed away on December 2, 2024. Lois was predeceased by her son, Randy, at the his age of 24. The remaining children married, had children of their own, and many of them are now married. That family tree now extends to eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Dennis, and is survived by her loving brother, Raymond.
Lois worked many years as a legal secretary. She also spent many years working at the Edmonton Journal, a job she truly enjoyed. Her skills and knowledge of the English language led to her last job at the Alberta Legislature as a Hansard Input Editor where she remained for 15 years.
Lois led a very happy life in her dream home located at her dream location, Jackfish Lake. She always appreciated the view from her kitchen chair and was always ready for a game of some kind with any friends and family that dropped by.
Lois and Ken became members at the Duffield Community Hall. They participated in the Pig Roasts, Steak Nights, Jamborees, and Pancake Breakfasts. She especially enjoyed dancing and meeting all the wonderful people in this Community Hall and did what she could to always be involved.
She enjoyed the warm summer of 2024. Falling ill in June, she truly enjoyed her last summer. The family also very much enjoyed having Thanksgiving, her 85th Birthday, and her 65th Wedding Anniversary while she was still in reasonable health.
Lois had a chance to see many visitors before passing peacefully in Hospice.
