It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lusilavovo Batuketa, who left us peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the University of Alberta Hospital (Mazankowski Heart Institute) in Edmonton, Alberta.
Born on September 7, 1954, in Kinshasa, Congo, Lusilavovo lived a life full of love, purpose, and kindness. He was passionate about driving — from trucks to buses and even limousines — and took great pride in his work behind the wheel.
Lusilavovo married the love of his life, Marie, on March 30, 1996, and together they shared more than 30 wonderful years of marriage built on love, strength, and faith.
Beyond his profession, Lusilavovo was a man of deep compassion and warmth. He loved spending quality time with his family, enjoying cola fruits, riding his bicycle, gardening, and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He often shared heartfelt stories and memories of his youth in Africa, reminding everyone of the importance of family, culture, and gratitude.
He had been suffering for many years with an illness that eventually led to his passing away suddenly before even being operated on for a surgery we aren’t sure would have even saved him in the first place. He was slowly losing strength, he was in pain daily, and on several medications for heart failure that eventually caused dysfunction of his kidneys.
We thought we would have more time to plan and prepare for his death, but no amount of time would have been enough. We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.
Lusilavovo will be deeply missed by his loving wife Marie, his sons Edouard and Dage, and his cherished grandson Isiah. His presence brought light and comfort to all who knew him, and his memory will live forever in our hearts.
A Memorial Service to honor Lusilavovo’s life will be held at:
Hainstock Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810 34 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 6L1.
“Those we love never truly leave us — they live on in the kindness they showed, the comfort they shared, and the love they brought into our lives.”
