Lynne Ellen Wyant Barnett

It is with great sadness that the family of Lynne Ellen Wyant Barnett announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, June 20, 2024 in Edmonton, Alberta. Lynne was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and friend to many. Lynne was born in London, Ontario on December 31, 1943 to Margaret Wyant (Linnell) and Gerald Wyant. As a young child she moved with her family to Johannesburg, South Africa and then on to Surrey, England. She had a very close bond to her older brother, Derek, throughout their worldly travels and shared beautiful memories with her family of these very special years in her life. In 1950 when work brought her family back to Canada, they settled in Montreal, Quebec. It is there where she spent most of her life, marrying and becoming a devoted mother to her two beautiful children, Jason Andrew Emond, and Sandi Leigh Emond. Lynne was passionate about raising her children and being there for them throughout every aspect of their formative years. Whether driving Jason to hockey practice in the wee hours of the morning, or taking Sandi to ballet to practice her "fluffy-jumps", Lynne supported her children and their interests, and loved them dearly. Lynne became quite the cake decorator and created some very spectacular birthday cakes for her children, and for others in the neighborhood. She was honoured when asked by the nearby McDonalds Restaurant if she would create her specialty cakes for the birthday parties they hosted. Lynne had a "passion for fashion", and was always dressed classy. Lynne moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 2006, as she wanted to be closer to her adult children. She was most excited when her grandson, Baaz Emond was born. She loved being a grandmother and was very proud of the young man Baaz has become. Lynne is survived by her son, Jason Andrew Emond (Aliya), her daughter, Sandi Leigh Emond, beloved grandson, Baaz Emond (all of Edmonton), her brother, Jim Wyant of Montreal, Sister-In-Law, Anne Wyant, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Margaret Wyant, infant brother, Peter (at birth) and her brother, Derek Wyant and sister-in-law, Maureen Leiva-Wyant. As per Lynne's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
