Mildred Ann Ashcroft, born on December 15, 1936, in Leek, England, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, just one week after celebrating her 88th birthday. Mildred was the only child of Millicent and Daniel Ashcroft, and her life was defined by an enduring passion for helping others. She became a Registered Nurse and later earned her Midwifery certification, dedicating her
career to delivering hundreds of babies and supporting families during life’s most profound moments.
In 1962, while attending nursing school in England, Mildred met and married Dacrison “Frank” Worrell. Together, they moved to Canada to work as nurses, eventually settling in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. Mildred’s strong sense of adventure and determination carried her through many chapters of life, including subsequent marriages, each contributing to the rich tapestry of her story.
She is survived by her four loving daughters: Ann-Marie, Catherine Ann, Michelle Ann, and Ruth Annette. Mildred was also a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren—Orlandice, Hunter, Blaze, Calvin, Jazmin, Jada, Siri, Trin, and Bejourn—and a proud great-grandmother to Haley, Jayanna, and Frankie.
An avid animal lover, Mildred always shared her life with pets, including cats, birds, and fish, but her greatest joy was her beloved dogs. Of all her companions, Charlie, a Bichon-Poodle mix, held a special place in her heart. Mildred’s vibrant personality made her a beloved figure wherever she went. She adored music, dancing, playing games, swimming, arts and crafts, and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Amongst her neighbors, she was affectionately regarded as a local celebrity,
bringing light and laughter to those around her. Known lovingly as “Annie,” “Foxy Lady,” “Momsey,” “Grandmomsey,” and “Gigi,” Mildred was a strong-willed woman who instilled in her daughters the values of compassion, confidence, and kindness. Her humor, warm smile, and unwavering strength will
be deeply missed. Mildred’s family will forever treasure the memories of her daily check-ins, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Although their hearts are heavy with her loss, they find comfort knowing she is reunited with loved ones who passed before her.
Rest peacefully, Foxy Lady. Your love, kindness, and indomitable spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
