Surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, Ray completed his journey with the same strength he carried throughout his life.
A Legacy of Hard Work
Born on April 3, 1943, in Bonnyville, Alberta, Ray was a man of grit and vision. From a young age, he possessed a natural entrepreneurial spirit that defined his career. He spent the majority of his life in the construction industry, where his dedication and sharp business mind led to the creation of several successful ventures. Those who worked with him knew him as a man of his word and a pillar of the industry.
A Devoted Family Man
Beyond his professional achievements, Ray’s greatest success was the family he built. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joie, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage—a testament to true partnership and enduring love.
He was the proud and loving father of four daughters, who carry forward his lessons of resilience and kindness: Natasha (Michael), Vanessa (Sheldon), Rayla, and Jody (Franz).
Ray found immense joy in his role as Dido. His legacy lives on through his four grandchildren, Mason, Alexandra, Kaden, and Brody, who will forever cherish the memories of his love and affection.
Family and Remembrance
Ray is also survived by his brother, Michael (Rosie), sister, Jeannette, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews. He now joins those who went before him, including his parents, John and Pearl and his brother and sister, Ron and Elsie (Vic), who predeceased him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Extendicare in Leduc and the nurses and physicians at Leduc Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Ray. They also extend a very special thank-you to the Right Reverend Igor Kisil for visiting Ray in the hospital and officiating at the upcoming funeral service.
Ray’s funeral service will take place on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00p.m. at Hainstock’s Funeral Home, 9810 34 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB.
Raymond was a man who built things to last—whether they were structures of steel and wood or the unbreakable bonds of family. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
