

It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of Real Garneau, after his courageous battle with Pancreatic cancer at the age 62 on May 23/2024.
Real was born in Edmonton, Alberta. He was the youngest son of nine children. Real lived a full life and he was a proud member of the Boilermakers Union, having just celebrating his 35 anniversary. Real had many interests and talents. He loved camping, water skiing, boating, fishing, hunting, and gardening and liked to spend as much time as he could outdoors. He was a lifelong learner and was constantly fixing and renovating projects for both his acreage and cabin property in Wildwood.
He also loved to travel and with his wife Yvonne, travelled throughout Europe, Disneyland, San Diego, Seattle, Yuma, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Maui, Florida, Alberta and British Columbia. His final adventure in 2023 was going to Nashville, Tennessee with Yvonne and his sister Annette and niece Marie.
Real's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. Real's unwavering spirit in the face of his disease was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Real is survived by his loving family and friends, who will forever hold dear his memory. Real is predeceased by his father and his mother; Louis and Marie Louise Garneau, his brothers Paul and Edward, sisters Pauline Garneau and Jeanne Slywka, sister-in-law Sonya Garneau and brother-in-laws Edward Slywka and Frank Barynowski. He is survived by his wife Yvonne (Roth), his 2 sons Jeffrey Baker (Courtney) and Steven Garneau. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Jasper and Carter. He is also survived by his sister Annette Barynowski and brothers; Leon (Mariette), Norm (Joanne) and Rene (Tammy) and sister-in-law Jeannette and many nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Abdelsalm Sarah at the Cross Cancer Institute for his support throughout Real's cancer treatments. We would also like to thank Real's wonderful Home Care Nurses who made his last days comfortable, thank you to Amber, Moe, Katherine, Dianne and Jessica, your support and kindness was greatly appreciated.
A service to celebrate Real's life will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Memories Funeral Chapel, located at 13403 St Albert Trail in Edmonton, Alberta beginning at 11:00 AM.
May Real rest in eternal peace, free from pain, and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who will mourn his passing. Please join us in remembering and celebrating Real's life.
