

Richard Henry Hauser of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on February 26th, 2024, at the age of 89 at home. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on September 12, 1934, and later resided in Gainford, Alberta. Richard was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend who had a unique ability to engage in conversations with anyone he met, making him a cherished member of his community. He fostered many close friendships throughout his life, especially with his neighbours and coworkers.
Richard pursued his passion for working with large diesel engines and became a heavy-duty mechanic, which kept him busy throughout his adult life. He was an avid sports fan with a particular love for curling, football, and hockey. Richard and his wife Marlene were known for their Grey Cup parties, which brought family and friends together. His greatest passion was his family; he was always available for any recital, game or special occasion, no matter the weather he was there.
Richard is survived by his son, Gary (Ruth); his granddaughters, Alisha (Robert), Lindsay, and Madison; his sisters-in-law, Janet and Mavis (Gerry); brother-in-law Reg, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Marlene; his parents, Hans and Beatrice; his brothers, Jim and Don (Rosa); and his sister, Alice.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 9th at 10 am at Memories Funeral Home (13403 St Albert Trail NW).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.
