January 10, 1953 – January 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Ron passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 72. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Ron’s life was a testament to the power of family, loyalty and quiet strength. Above all, Ron believed that family came first - a principle that shaped everything he did and every relationship he had.
Through his quiet strength and humble ways, Ron taught his family about devotion, love and resilience. He worked hard for everything he had, never seeking attention or praise but always ensuring those he loved were cared for.
Ron was a man of few words. His love was quiet yet powerful, shown in the ways he cared for others and in the little things he did every day. His character and love rang loudly in his quiet voice, witty smile and subtle sense of humour.
Ron was the embodiment of hard work. As a small business owner, he was no stranger to long days and sleepless nights. He didn’t seek recognition or accolades — his reward was knowing that his family was taken care of. His work ethic taught everyone around him that success doesn’t come without sacrifice, grit and determination.
Three years ago, Ron lost the love of his life, his wife, Connie. Their life together spanned over 50 years and was one of deep love, mutual respect and unwavering support. Her passing left an undeniable emptiness in his life.
A proud father, Ron would speak so highly of his kids and the things that brought them joy. He spent countless hours volunteering to coach and mentor them as a way to connect and share his wisdom and talents. His strength was lent to his kids in the way he worked hard to provide for them and by setting an example with his immense strength as he persevered through some of life’s biggest challenges.
His grandkids, Minnie, Liam, Jaxon and Luke, were the light of his life. Every moment spent with them was a treasure, and he made sure they knew how much they meant to him.
Ron is survived by many family members and was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Juliet (Julia), grandson Luke, wife Connie and son Kyle. These losses were devastating to Ron, and those of us left behind will look for the “better days ahead,” as Ron’s dad used to say. We can find some solace and peace knowing that Ron is once again united with those he loved so dearly. We can imagine Ron sitting in the sun, drinking a Coke and enjoying a cigarette.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Forever Five Foundation, which was created in honour of Luke and Kyle. An email can be sent to [email protected] for information on how to donate.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ron on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Wellington Park Community Hall at 13440-132 Street, Edmonton. The Eulogy will be at 1:30pm followed by a BBQ.
