San was born in Kampong Cham, Cambodia. A survivor of the Cambodian Genocide, he went on to travel the world before eventually settling in Edmonton, Alberta. San was an ambitious and enterprising individual who pursued a wide range of business ventures. He had a unique ability to make lasting impressions; while he was not always easy to like, he was undeniably memorable. Wherever he went, he forged connections and left behind stories that reflected his bold spirit and resilience.
San will be remembered by his children: Sok, Sewara (Josh), Saona (Ash), Sanyda (Alex), Hussein (Rosie), and Steven; his sisters: Hengleap, and Phymean (Steve); his confidant: Selena (Dan); his cousin: Em (Chhay); his nieces: Malyda (Hul), Sonyta, Angie (Devon); and his grandchildren: Markus, Mikhaela, Jaya, Malik, Avera and Zander, as well as, many relatives in Cambodia, along with numerous friends and community members in the Edmonton Area.
He was predeceased by his mother: Malis; his father: Cheang-Ly; his wife: Sam Onn; and son-in-law: Stephen.
A Funeral Service for San will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Hainstock's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 9810 34th Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, offerings or donations in San's memory can be made to the Watt Khmer Samakii Temple, 10830 - 106 Street, Edmonton, AB.
