My most cherished memory is when  Shawnnne came to visit me at Mermaid Close, seeing him for the first time in many years I was so impressed as to the fine young man he turned out to be. So interesting, intelligent and compassionate. I so wish our family wasn’t so far apart as I would give anything to sit down with him again and have a longer visit and conversation.  My love to his wife and his precious boys. Rest in peace my dear brother.

We knew Shawnee as a co worker but also as a close friend.
Didn't matter that we were a few provinces apart and only crossed paths periodically, each time we did, it was like we just saw each other the other day, picking up stories where we left them, letting each other know how fast the kids were growing, talking sports. 
He was generous with his time and wisdom, showing our son the ropes when he showed  interest in becoming a camera operator, treating him like an equal. For his friendship and kindness we are forever grateful. 
He was a true gentleman and he will be sadly missed. 
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

So sad to hear of Shawnne's passing.  He was such a consummate TV professional and a soft spoken great person in real life!  His fantastic game camera coverage gave the viewers an indelible look at so many memorable sports moments.  Times he would ask me if it was OK to switch over and do tight camera showed the complete mastery he had on different camera assignments.  It was such a treat to direct Oilers games as my confidence level was at the top whenever I worked with Shawnne and the outstanding Edmonton TV mobile crews.  Loved watching Shawnne as he mentored the newbies on our crews.  RIP Shawnne, it has been an honour to have known you.

He started out as an EFP cameraman and eventually found his true calling as a Cameraman for live sports, where he truly excelled.

You meet very few people in any walk of life that are as great at their chosen life craft as they are as a person.

Well old friend, ask anyone and you were definitely in that very restricted group 

First class cameraman .. world class storyteller .. respected with few peers .. and yet a better man and colleague .. I had the privilege of working with you on so many occasions and I knew when I did the artisan behind the camera would NEVER miss a thing .. 

But as a quiet teammate and as a man you had even fewer equals

We were shocked to find out at yesterday's Oilers game of the passing of dear Shawnne.  Our deepest sympathies and condolences on your loss.  Shawnne was one of the nicest humans one could meet.  Raji and I fondly remember the years when we were blessed to be your neighbors.  We also recall Shawnne spontaneously mowing our grass when we had just moved into the neighborhood.  He was that kind of a neighbor and friend.  May his soul rest in peace.

Watching the game tonight shocked to see Shawn name and picture  there honouring him.I worked for aircanada saw him flying everywhere in world in loved his job! Also worked with him many years ago pacific western airlines when he quit and went to do what he’s done for years being a cameraman Shawn nicest guy you could ever meet .

Shawnne, truly one of the best cameramen in Canadian Sports TV coverage .. Having been the Oilers TV producer for over 4 decades, I've witnessed the standard of excellence that the technical crews have delivered every game, and Shawnne led the way in his camera coverage .. Many visiting American hockey directors have always commented on his great work at the end of the night .. So the tragic timing of Shawnne's loss as a new NHL season begins, is not lost on our NHL TV family .. Over the years, also hearing from so many others in Canadian and international non-NHL productions, his attention to detail has always been admired and so much appreciated by us all .. Humble and quiet, yet justifiably proud of his work, and someone I would listen to intently when he wanted to discuss areas to adjust or improve the telecasts .. Darling Linda & Sons & Family,

Very, Very few people have impressed me in my lifetime, but Shawnne my darling Brother did so profoundly when he came to visit me at my home Mermaid Close in Middle Cornwall, it is the 4th time in 52 years that I have seen Shawnne and my time with him visiting me was beyond impressive.  Shawnne grew to be such a soft-spoken, caring, dedicated amazing young man, sharing his thoughts and adventures brought him closer to me and I am truly grateful we had that time together.  I will cherish the memory forever & I have carried into my life his understanding and forgiving ways.  I will miss him dearly but will always love and cherish my darling Brother Shawnne.  I am truly grateful God blessed me with Shawnne.  Rest in Peace beloved.  Lei-Valli #1 Sister.

Shawnne was one of my best friend during high school in Halifax. Shawnne lived with my family during those high school years. We shared a lot of great days together. We worked together in the eighties in Edmonton with Pacific Western Airlines. Shawnne moved on to northern Alberta and married the  love of his life Linda. We stayed in touch over the years. Shawnne I will miss you dearly. RIP. My condolences to Linda and family.
