Shayne Hazen Page passed away peacefully at his home in Cardiff Echoes near Morinville, AB, on New Year's Eve at the age of 66 years.
He was born in Edmonton and at the age of three, moved with his parents & siblings to Medicine Hat where he grew up on the family ranch at Box Springs. He finished his schooling in Medicine Hat then completed a BA in History & a B.Ed. at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. He started his teaching career at Westglen in 1967, then taught at Steele Heights & spent the rest of his career at Lorne Akins in St Albert.
Shayne is survived by his mother Jean Page of Medicine Hat, his sisters Lynn Whorly (Doug Kovatch) of Brooks and her son Brad (Diane) Whorly of Duchess; Sandy Patterson of Cochrane and her sons Scott and Wade; his brother Mike (Susan) Page of Medicine Hat and their children Lenore (Sue Maguire), Travis, Leah; Shayne’s beloved Godchildren Harris (Audrey) Sharples of Edmonton, AB; and Desiree (Shane) Ryan of Sherwood Park. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and former students, many of whom became good friends of Shayne’s.
Shayne was predeceased by his father Charles Page of Medicine Hat and his brother-in-law Murray Patterson of Cochrane.
