June 22, 1920 - December 2, 2011
Spence Jamison passed away in the comfort of his home and in the arms of his beloved wife, Betty, in their 70th year together. Spence grew up and lived his entire life in the Highlands area of Edmonton where he and Betty were active members in the early years of the Highlands Community League and where they established their restaurant and catering business. Spence is survived by his wife Betty; his four daughters, Judy (Gary), Lorna (Yvan), Linda (Con) and Barbara (Garth); grandchildren, Laurel, Rebecca, Lindsey, Chris, Martine, Peter, Anna, Nicholas, Katie, Michael, and Alex; great grandchildren, Maya, Emily, Jamison, Liam, Jasper and Ruben. Spence is also survived by his brother, Jim and many nieces and nephews.
His family will always appreciate his legacy of generosity, enthusiasm for change, kindness and appreciation of others. Spence's language was music. Other passions included ham radio, picture framing, curling, hockey, and his Grey Dort car. He was an organizer and an entrepreneur. Any good idea could be turned into a bigger and better one in the hands of Spence and one in which more people would benefit or enjoy.
A memorial service for Spence will be held at Highlands United Church 11305-64 Street, Edmonton, on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta, 11111 Jasper Ave., Edmonton AB, T5K 0L4
