Born November 22, 1949, in Canton, China, Stella brought her radiant light to Edmonton, Alberta, where she touched countless lives with her vibrant spirit, infectious laugh, and unshakeable faith.
Stella was the devoted wife of nearly three decades to Ronald Chu; the cherished mother of Evelyn Sutherland and Ken Chu; and the joyful Po Po and Mah Mah to her treasured grandchildren Ethan, Jacob, Alila, Kaitlin, Kara, and Kendall. Her home was a haven of love, filled with the aroma of her masterful cooking, the sound of her hearty laughter, and the warmth of her welcoming embrace that made everyone feel like family from the first moment.
A woman of profound faith, Stella lived boldly for Christ, sharing His love fearlessly—at home, in the community, overseas missions, and even in the grocery store produce aisle. Her kitchen was her stage, where songs mingled with simmering pots, creating memories that will forever nourish those she loved. She faced life's hardships with grace, emerging stronger in her devotion to God and family, always pointing others toward the hope she held so dear.
Stella's legacy—of colorful joy, unwavering belief, and selfless service—will shine eternally in the hearts she filled with light. Though she is gone from our sight, her laughter echoes still, and her faith calls us to carry her mission forward.
