William Nicolson was born in Edmonton on November 18th, 1957 to Bill and Rea Nicolson. Being the only boy in a household of four sisters, he was doted on and loved enthusiastically. Growing up he kept busy as a Junior Forest Ranger, playing hockey in the community and exploring the outdoors with his family.
While attending his P.E. 30 class he met his high school sweetheart, Sheryle Jorgensen who he married in 1978. In the following years three children were added to the Nicolson clan, as well as a few cats, one he liked more than others.
He lived to beautify this world in his career as a painter and decorator in a business he took over from his father. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking and especially spending time with his family and numerous friends. Many have special memories of time with Bill out by a campfire at Moose Lake, on his boat at Crawford Bay, B.C. or on one of his many other adventures.
On Saturday, November 27th, 2021, at the age of 64, William tragically passed away in Woodlands County from an accidental fall while hunting. We are greatly comforted that at the time of his passing he had his brother in law by his side and was out doing what he loved.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 43 years, Sheryle; their children, Leanne (Jerad) Percy, Ryan (Lindsay) Nicolson, and Kaylin (Quintin) Larson. His unconditional love will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Hayden, Molly, Emmett, Harrison, Tanner, Scout, and Cole. He also leaves to mourn his sisters, Christy (Bill), Bonnie (Eric), Janet (Anthony), Rea (James), many nieces and nephews, along with his mother-in-law, Joyce Jorgensen and countless other relatives and friends. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Rea and Bill Nicolson.
A celebration of life will take place at Hainstock’s Funeral Home and Crematorium on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 10:00 am, followed by a short reception. The service will be live streamed. He will be laid to rest at Beechmount Cemetery in Edmonton in a private family ceremony.
Hainstock’s Funeral Home and Crematorium is participating in Alberta’s restrictions exemption program. All individuals attending indoor funeral services will be required to provide COVID-19 QR Code proof of vaccination or proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service, or documentation of medical exemption.
