Angelica Gomez

Our beloved Ama, Nana, great-grandmother, and family matriarch, Angelica Gomez, passed away on April 21, 2026. Born on November 18, 1943, she lived a life rooted in faith, strength, and devotion. A proud Catholic, she shared a deep spiritual life with her husband and now joins him in God’s eternal kingdom, which he entered on May 3, 2004.

Angelica’s greatest legacy is the family she built and nurtured. She is honored and remembered by her children and their families: Martha Avila and her husband, Ted, and their children, David Avila and his wife, Brandes, Gabriella Avila, and Teddy Avila; Maria Hanks and her children, Lorena Gomez-Sanderson, Karina Hanks, and Mariana Hanks; Eulalia “Lali” Gomez and her children, Joseph Mendoza and his girlfriend, Sara Guerra Brandt, and their son, Camilo Mendoza, Angelica’s great-grandson, as well as Sofia and Alicia Rivera; and Rudy Gomez and his wife, Kristyn, and their children, Alexandrea, Aniessa, and Rudy Gomez Jr.

Angelica was the heart of her family. She was an incredible cook whose meals brought everyone together, a Nana who cared for every grandchild as if they were the only one, and a woman whose creativity knew no limits. She could make or recreate almost anything — whether it was a craft, a recipe, or a memory her family wanted to hold onto.

Her siblings and their families said she was much more than a sister and Tía — she was the pillar of their lives. She was the pioneer who sacrificed so much so that they could all thrive in the United States. Everything they have, and everything they are, began with her courage and love.

Our stories all begin with her — our mother, our Ama, our Nana. Her legacy will live on in every generation she filled with her love, strength, and faith.

Nuestra amada Ama, Nana, bisabuela y matriarca de la familia, Angelica Gomez, falleció el 21 de Abril de 2026. Nacida el 18 de Noviembre de 1943, vivió una vida arraigada en la fe, la fortaleza y la devoción. Orgullosa católica, compartió una profunda vida espiritual con su esposo y ahora se reúne con él en el reino eterno de Dios, al cual él entró el 3 de Mayo de 2004.

El mayor legado de Angelica es la familia que formó y cuidó con tanto amor. Angelica era el corazón de su familia. Fue una cocinera increíble y sus comidas unían a todos, una Nana que cuidaba a cada nieto como si fuera el único, y una mujer con una creatividad que no tenía límites. Podía hacer o recrear casi cualquier cosa — ya fuera una manualidad, una receta o un recuerdo que su familia quisiera conservar.

Sus hermanos y sus familias decían que ella era mucho más que una hermana y una tía — era el pilar de sus vidas. Fue la pionera que sacrificó tanto para que todos pudieran prosperar en los Estados Unidos. Todo lo que tienen y todo lo que son comenzó con su valentía y su amor.
