Antonino “Nino” Magneta, was born on April 2, 1946, in Partinico, Sicily, to his loving parents, Pietro and Antonina Magneta, along with his brothers who preceded him in death, Ignazio and Vito, and his sisters Maria and Dina.
He met his beloved wife Francine, and together they created a beautiful life filled with love and a very close knit family in San Diego. They were blessed with their children, Peter, Sammy, Nina, Mary and Lucia who in turn blessed him with 10 beautiful grandchildren, Julia, Troy, Isaiah, Olivia, Brady, Jon, Aaliyah, Teresa, Keith and baby Bishop who all lovingly referred to him as “Papa”.
Nino was not only a loving father, husband and papa, but he was also an incredibly hard working man who tirelessly pursued the American dream for his family, building a beautiful life for his wife and children through his years of labor working as a plasterer. His warmth and kindness made him a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In his leisure time, Nino found joy in bowling and nurturing his garden, which flourished with tomatoes, fava and anything else he decided to grow as he was blessed with a green thumb. He was also a cigar aficionado, and enjoyed spending time with his paisanos, always appreciating the simple pleasures in life.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nino's passing on January 31, 2025, at his home in Santee, surrounded by his loving wife who never left his side, and his children. His absence leaves a profound void in the lives of his family and friends. Antonino will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all who loved him.
