Carlos, fondly known as Charly, was born to his predeceased parents, Carlos Grijalva and Carmen Arvayo on August 14, 1946, in Pilares de Nacosari, Sonora Mexico.
Carlos is survived by his wife, Minerva and five children, Nora, Carla, Carlos, Jose, Juan, son-in-law Jose Luis, and daughter-in-law Nicole, eleven grandchildren, Erika, Maria, Jessica, Kassandra, Sarahi, Carlos, Juan, Nayeli, Jasmine, Noelani, Max, and seven great-grandchildren, Rahmel, Rahmiyah, King, Isabel, Rosalina, Azalina, and Khamar.
He is also survived by his brothers Rogelio, Humberto, and Jesus, his sisters, Maria, Rosa, Leticia, and Azucena.
Carlos fought his battle with the qualities that characterize the memories we have of him, a man who would always say, "I bend but I don't break!" Despite his physical setbacks, he always found it in his spirit to seize the moment and give it his all. He thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity presented to spend time with his loved ones, be it at his daughter's home enjoying his favorite food and company, a day in the city, receiving visitors at his beloved Victoria Care Center, his second home and family, a phone call, video chat, or his all-time favorite, Facebook. If Carlos did not post on Facebook for a day, his followers would become concerned.
Throughout his life, he encouraged many to pursue a higher education, often referring to school as the boyfriend or girlfriend one needs to have while preparing oneself for a better future. He would say "this is the one who will always do right by you no matter what, stick with it and it will stick with you, you will never regret this relationship."
We cannot forget his loyalty to Club Libertad, "Semper Fidelis", and his lifelong passion for soccer and sports of all type.
Carlos was notorious for his sense of humor. He had a great ability to make others laugh. But don't get it wrong, he would also fire anyone, or all of us without any hesitation.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 11:59 PM at El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Ave. El Cajon, CA 92020.
