Christine met Terry in the Temple of the Church of JESUS CHRIST 9 Nov. 2018 at 4 pm. They brought smiles, Happiness, and Joy back to each other, fell in Love; and Married February 1, 2019 in The Temple. Her Love will last Forevermore.
Christine was born in Canandaigua, New York and raised in Manchester, New York where she lived with her parents, brother and sister. She married William Schuppenhauer, from that area. They had two children, Brian Arthur and Pamela Jo who she loved dearly.
In 1976 she was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints through a good neighbour. Christine was surprised to learn the Church had been founded in the same “hick town area that she had wanted to get away from as a child.” When she found that the church had answers to her childhood questions about faith, and God’s plan for His children, she got baptized along with her two children. From that time on she became a devoted member of the Church. One of her favorite things to do was to share the gospel with everyone and participate in the church’s services and activities.
Christine worked, from driving a school bus for over five years in the terrible weather of western NY, to working at the San Diego Housing Commission, to owning a cleaning business in San Diego and Florida, which really suited her well because of her passion to have and keep things clean. Christine lived in many places in New York, in Pennsylvania, in Arizona, in Southern California, then Florida, & finally returned to California where she lived the remainder of her life. In San Diego, she lived in El Cajon, South Park, & finally settled down at her home in Imperial Beach.
Christine was filled with kindness, pure love and joy. She always had a smile on her face and kind words for everyone even if she wasn’t doing well herself. She loved music, fishing at the lake back East, shopping and her dogs. Of all the dogs she owned, Tulip was her favorite, but in the last 4 years Daisy, a pit bull mix, became her beloved emotional support companion.
Christine was the third child and survived her mother, Johanna Hendrika (De Vries) Verhoeven, her father Nicolaas Verhoeven, her Sister Dorothy Marie Verhoeven (Wichman) & her brother Frederick John Verhoeven and her stepson Tim Schuppenhauer. She also survived her second husband, Alan Ray Smith.
Christine is survived by her husband Terry J. Wirth a USAR 1LT Combat Veteran; her first husband William Schuppenhauer, her two children: son, Brian Arthur (Artemes) Schuppenhauer, daughter in law Nekane Fernández Díaz; daughter, Pamela Jo (Pam) Magoffin, son in law Rory Ty Magoffin, and Grandson, Alec Ewan Magoffin: by her brother in law Don Wichman and cousins; Margaret Ann in New York & Hans Peterson in the Netherlands.
We love you dearly Christine, you were and are the blooming flower of all our lives.
