Dennis met his wife Kathleen, Kathy, when he was only 16 years old and they were high school sweethearts and best friends for 54 years. Together they had five children and five grandchildren. Dennis was a proud father and grandfather to Jessica Suter (grandsons Wyatt & Lee Henry), Henry Bowling, Melony Watson (grandson Bennett), Amanda Bowling, and William Bowling (granddaughter Eramione & grandson Maven).
Dennis was a life-long lover of learning and dedicated 40 years to the field of civil engineering, teaching at San Diego State University, serving on numerous boards and committees, and mentoring others in the process– sharing his knowledge and experience with those around him for generations to come.
He leaves behind countless memories of adventure and expertise. His passion for photography, astronomy, cars (especially Jeeps and Corvettes), woodworking, and Chargers football will live on through us all.
Dennis was always working on a project and never alone. He found great joy in sharing his knowledge with others, especially his children. Many of his designs and creations he drafted became a reality, like the home he built with his father for his parents and the family home he designed and built with his wife, Kathy. That home, filled with the custom furniture and life he built with Kathy, continues to grow and fill with memories.
