Don married Bonnie Powell in June 1950.Their family expanded to include 4 daughters beginning in 1951. They relocated to Southern California in September 1951.
As a lifelong member of the Ironworkers Union, Don worked building the freeways and bridges of Southern California. Starting with Highway 5 in Los Angeles in the 1950s to Highway 805 in San Diego in the 1970s. A highlight was working on the Coronado Bridge in the late 1960s.
Don moved the family from Los Angeles County to Orange County, to Riverside/San Bernardino area and finally to San Diego in 1961. He lived over 50 years in El Cajon.
Don is survived by daughters Glenda, Regina (Doug), Peggy (Chuck), & Shirley; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by beautiful Bonnie in 2013.
Burial on April 17, 2020 at Singing Hills Cemetery. The family would like to thank his wonderful Scripps doctors; Dr Yee and Dr Bhavnani, as well as Sonata Hospice and his caregivers for the outstanding care.
