Franklin Lee Taylor, age 95, of Santee, California passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Katherine Natalie Taylor, and their 5 children: Joanne Iva Barron, Shirley Marie Hicks, Danny Jo Taylor, Gregory Warren Taylor, and Darrin Lee Taylor. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Born in Kendallville, Indiana in 1928, Frank worked as a radio man for the U.S. Navy in the Second World War where he was awarded medals for Good Conduct, WWII, and the American Campaign. After his military service, Frank worked at Convair Aeronautics, working on missiles and other metal fabrications. After that, he worked as an appliance repairman for Sears until he retired after 26 years. He was a prolific crossword puzzle solver, doing the daily newspaper puzzle every day. He loved reading, especially books about history and ghost towns.
Frank and Kathy have lived in the same home in Santee since 1963, when the community was little more than hills and countryside. Frank will be remembered for his playful spirit and memorable pranks. More than that, he is remembered for his loving and giving heart and the outpouring of love he showed to Katherine and their families every day of his life. Frank died peacefully in his sleep, in his own bed, at age 95. We should all be so fortunate.
