Joyce Sylvia Barner passed away on April 13, 2026, at Grossmont Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on July 10, 1937, the daughter of Horace and Ivy Bradshaw. A proud graduate of Grossmont High School, Joyce went on to marry the love of her life, Robert Lee Barner, on August 20, 1957.
Joyce and Bob spent many wonderful years traveling the United States in their RV. Her adventurous spirit also took her abroad; she once traveled to England in pursuit of her deep passion for genealogy. Joyce spent years meticulously researching and traveling to uncover the branches of her family tree, a hobby that brought her great fulfillment.
A devoted wife, Joyce remained steadfastly by Robert’s side until his passing in 2011. She was a loving mother to her son, David, and her daughter, Karen, who were the center of her world. Whether it was Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, or band, Joyce was always there, actively supporting her children in every endeavor.
Joyce was a woman of remarkable strength and calm dignity. Although she rarely expressed her emotions openly, her devotion was unmistakable. Rather than relying on grand words to convey her feelings, she created a sanctuary of unwavering presence that clearly showed her love. Steadfast and unflappable, she was the foundation of our lives, and her memory continues to provide us with enduring comfort.
Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Kyle and Kellen Barner, Kelsey Boomer, and Kody Ferguson; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Kinsley Barner, Savanah Boomer, Addison Barner, and Cooper Barner. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
The family of Joyce Sylvia Barner wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and kindness shown during this time of loss. Your prayers and presence are deeply appreciated.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
