

Larry Richie passed away on January 5th, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born in Washington DC to the parents of Elwood and Frankie Richie. He was their third child of five. He was also their only son. He was preceded in death by his father Elwood Richie and his sister Barbara Hines. Larry grew up in Florida.
During the summers, he worked along his dad and learned the Lathing trade. Larry developed a strong work-ethic and stewardship of finances. Larry’s mom was a constant inspiration. Frankie taught him responsibility, dependability, and stability through her dedication and sacrifice for her family and others.
He attended college at Tennessee Temple In Chattanooga where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Theology. It was during his college years, when he met his beautiful wife, Jan Neuenswander. Larry and Jan exchanged their wedding vows on September 12th, 1969 in San Diego, California. Their first year of marriage, they enjoyed living in Hawaii while Larry worked in construction. In 1970, they returned to the mainland. He continued working in the construction field and taught apprenticeship school two evenings per week.
Their first son, Britton was born in 1972, in 1974 their second son Brandon was born. In 1976 the real estate market was escalating, and he started the Richie and Sons Construction company. Later on, Larry joined Soltek Pacific as a business partner. He continued to work part time during his retirement.
Larry is described by many as adventurous, compassionate, and fearless. He had a zest for life, an upbeat spirit, a heartwarming, and one-of-a-kind laughs. One of his many hobbies was to travel. He also enjoyed attending family gatherings. One of his favorite celebrations was 4th of July. In the past few years, Larry spent quality time with his grandchildren by fishing, boating, skiing, golfing and just having a fun time. He lived his life to the fullest and loved by many.
Larry is survived by his wife Jan, his two sons Britton and (Carli Richie-Zavaleta), Brandon (Andalynn Richie), his 3 grandchildren Atalia Richie, Jeshuri and Zuleyka Richie-Zavaleta, his mother Frankie Richie, and his sisters Karen Fleming (Dave), Anita Hurley(Walter), Arlene Ketchum (Dennis), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. His Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
