In Loving Memory of Margaret
Margaret Jane Nacrelli (lovingly known as Peggy to all who had the joy of knowing her), age 87, peacefully departed this world on January 31, 2025, in El Cajon, CA, with her devoted caregiver by her side. Born on December 21, 1937, in Chester, PA, to Jack and Dorothy McNeal, Peggy's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, devotion, and warmth.
On June 15, 1957, Peggy married her high school sweetheart, Walter (Nick) Nacrelli, embarking on a love story that would span decades and bless them with five wonderful children. Family was Peggy's heart and soul, and she embraced the challenges of frequent relocations during Walter's 34-year career in the U.S. Navy with grace and strength. Often single-handedly caring for her children, Peggy's unwavering love and selflessness knew no bounds. Her resilience shone through even in the toughest times, such as managing without a car until 1964, a year after their youngest was born.
Peggy's home was a haven of love and warmth, always filled with the delicious aromas of her culinary creations. Her authentic lasagna and chicken and dumplings were legendary, prepared with a generous helping of love. The holidays, especially Christmas, were magical under Peggy's touch. She transformed her home into a winter wonderland with multiple, exquisitely decorated trees and the irresistible scent of freshly baked goods wafting through the air.
Beyond her culinary talents, Peggy was a gifted tole painter, pouring her heart into each brushstroke. Her cherished works of art, given lovingly to family and friends, will forever be treasured reminders of her creative spirit and generous heart.
Peggy's capacity for love extended beyond her human family to the four-legged members as well. Her kindness and gentle spirit made her the favorite of every dog lucky enough to join the Nacrelli household. The sight of a contented pup at her feet as she sat surrounded by her loved ones was a perfect snapshot of the happiness she both gave and received.
Peggy's life was a masterpiece of kindness, empathy, and unconditional love. She had an extraordinary ability to touch the lives of everyone around her, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire and comfort those she leaves behind.
Peggy is survived by her beloved husband, Walter Andre; her adoring children, Susan Jane (Joel Johnson), Daniel Alyn, Donald Andrew (Sheryl Whitehurst), Margaret "Peg" Ann (James Graham), and David Albert (Kimberly Conaway). Her love lives on through her 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
In Loving Memory of Walter
Walter André Nacrelli, born September 27, 1937, in Chester, PA to Michael and Grace Nacrelli, peacefully passed away at age 87 on July 5, 2025, in San Diego, CA, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Walter's greatest treasure was finding his true love and high school sweetheart, Margaret Jane McNeal (12/21/37 - 1/31/25). Married on June 15, 1957, they began a partnership that would grace this world for decades. Walter is survived by his five children: Susan Jane (Joel Johnson), Daniel Alyn, Donald Andrew (Sheryl Whitehurst), Margaret Ann (James Graham), David Albert (Kimberly Conaway), and his 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A shining star of Chester High School's class of 1956, Walter's brilliant mind led him to Temple University to study Pharmacy before he answered the call to serve our nation. In 1957 he entered the Navy, embarking on an extraordinary journey of sacrifice and dedication. Through 34 years of service, Walter poured his heart into the Navy, rising to the esteemed rank of Captain. He commanded numerous military hospitals, earning respect, deep admiration, and heartfelt affection from all that served alongside him.
Walter's lifelong passion for learning defined him. A 1969 Cornell University graduate, he went on to earn two master's degrees, embodying his commitment to knowledge and personal growth throughout his military career.
Family gatherings were made memorable by Walter's gift for bringing poetry to life. He often recited poems, especially those of Robbie Burns and Robert W. Service, his words painting vivid pictures for all gathered around the table. These moments have become treasured heirlooms in the memory chests of those who had the pleasure of hearing him.
Walter's legacy lives on in every laugh shared in remembrance of his quick wit, in every wise word passed down through generations, and in the boundless love that continues to flow from his spirit.
