On Monday March 2nd, 2020, Maya Noemi Santana, a loving daughter, caring big sister and friend, passed away at the young age of 19. Maya was born in Chula Vista on September 12, 2000 at 10:05 pm to Mark Gerometta and Rosa Santana. Maya graduated from Granite Hills High School in 2018 with a 3.5 GPA that she worked hard to achieve. She loved her family, friends, music, dancing, and cats (especially her cat Larry and Hello Kitty). Maya attended Grossmont College and worked at Boston Market while she researched different career options and explored potential majors. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply including her parents, Mark and Rosa, her step-mother and brother, Jamie and Brayden, her grandparents Eleanor, Bob, Beatriz and Moises, and many aunts, uncles cousins as well as a large extended family.
Maya had a passion for fashion and loved shopping and anything that had to do with hair and makeup. She was extremely talented at styling hair and makeup and strongly considered a career in cosmetology. She loved watching makeup tutorials and experimenting with different looks. If she wasn’t styling something, she was probably hanging out with her friends, playing video games, working or spending time at the beach. Maya loved taking vacations with her family and was always excited to explore new places and try new foods and activities. She made everything fun with her fun loving personality and desire for new experiences. She loved taking pictures of the places she went, the food she tried and of course, Selfies! She was a typical teenage girl in many ways and her future was so full of potential. She was loved so deeply and will remain in our hearts forever.
Services for Maya will be held on Wednesday March 11th, 2020 at the El Cajon Mortuary, 684 S Mollison Ave, El Cajon, CA 92020 (619) 440-8033, at 4:30pm. The family would like to encourage donations/support be made to McAllister Institute in Maya’s honor in place of flowers.
