With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mike Zehm, beloved husband, father, brother, educator, friend, and the most loyal Green Bay Packers fan to ever walk this earth. On January 15, 2025, Mike left us on the anniversary of the first Super Bowl—a poetic and fitting farewell for a man whose life was intertwined with the legacy of the Packers.
Mike was born on November 30, 1955, in Illinois to his loving parents Sally and Leslie Zehm, where his lifelong love affair with the Packers began. That passion followed him through life, shaping Sunday traditions and family memories. Living in California didn’t diminish his loyalty one bit; he made every game day feel like Lambeau Field, complete with brats on the grill, onions sizzling on the stove, and Packers gear that could rival any pro shop inventory.
Beyond football, Mike was an extraordinary educator. Spending his whole 37-year teaching career at Ramona Elementary. Parents prayed for their children to have Mr. Zehm as their teacher, knowing his compassion, humor, and dedication would inspire and shape young minds. He began his career teaching the blind, a testament to his patience and heart, before spending decades as a beloved classroom teacher. His impact on his students was profound, and his influence reached far beyond the classroom walls.
Mike’s love for his family was his true anchor. Whether it was cheering for the Packers, sharing life lessons, or supporting each other through thick and thin, he poured his heart into those he loved. His booming laugh, warm spirit, and unshakable devotion to his family and friends will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.
Mike faced his final battle with Lewy Body Dementia with the same resilience he displayed throughout life. Even as the illness stole pieces of him, Sunday mornings watching the Packers brought a spark of familiarity and joy that transcended time and space.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Wendy Zehm; his children, Erika Barner and her husband Sean, Tim Zehm and his wife Rachael, Samantha Jardin and her husband Max; his cherished grandchildren, Zoey Barner, Aston Jardin, Leia Jardin and Tobias Jardin; his siblings, Laura Zehm and her wife Paula Black, Mark Zehm and his wife Chelsea, and Paula Floyd and her husband Tim. As well as his extended family and former students who will continue to honor his memory. Preceded in death by his loving parents and his brother Tom Zehm.
As we say goodbye, we hold on to the countless memories he gave us: the laughter, the traditions, the lessons, and the love. Every Packers game will now carry an extra layer of meaning, a reminder of a man who taught us all that loyalty and passion make life worth living.
We’ll keep cheering in your honor. Rest in peace, Mike. You’ll forever be our MVP. 💚💛
