Nancy Jean Buechner, age 83, of San Diego, California passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Nancy was born February 25, 1938 in Springfield, Ohio to Josephine (Suskitus) Temple and Donald Temple.
Nancy graduated from The Ohio State University and was forever a "Buckeyes" fan. Nancy met Richard in December 1959 when Richard volunteered to ride with a friend, from the Marian Club, to pick up her teacher friends from the Tijuana airport. One of the friends was Nancy and she sat behind Richard and asked him questions the entire ride home. Nine months later they were married and they were one month away from celebrating their 61st anniversary. Nancy taught math, science and computers with the San Diego Unified School District Middle/Jr High for many years before retiring from Lewis Jr High in Allied Gardens. Nancy will be remembered for her love of reading, cooking, playing tennis ("she had a wicked forehand"), bridge (achieving the rank of Life Master) and of course sweets (especially ice cream). Nancy loved to ask questions from everybody she met and was always wondering what everyone was doing, she always had "one more thing" to ask at the end of a conversation. Nancy loved to host dinner parties and holiday events, everyone was welcome to come and bring family and friends, regardless if she knew them or not, and always offered a to-go plate when you left.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard Buechner; her son Donald Buechner (Trish) of Hampstead, North Carolina; her son James Buechner of Lakeside, California; her daughter Susan Ebken of El Cajon, California; her daughter Lynn Buechner of San Diego, California; and her son Steve Buechner (Katie) of Santee, California.
Nancy is survived by 9 grandchildren: Megan, Robert (Danielle), Kevin, Victor, Amanda (Tim), Karen, Katy (Ben), Nathan and Sidney; and 10 great grandchildren Monty, Mya, Cash, Jordan, Juliana, Draco, Peyton, Chloe, Ava and Emily
Nancy was preceded in death by her father Donald Temple and her mother Josephine Temple.
