

Roger Allen Linden was born in the early morning hours of June 21, 1939 on a farm two miles east of Kiron, Iowa to John Jules and Agnes (Bilsten) Linden. Roger died on April 29, 2025, at 85 years, 10 months and 8 days in Santee, California.
Roger spent his formative years in Kiron, Iowa having moved there with his family in 1945. He attended school in Kiron until his senior year, graduating from Denison High School in 1957.
Choosing a career in medicine, he worked in the Denison Hospital as a Nursing Assistant before enrolling in the Edmunson School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa, graduating in 1962.
In February 1963, Roger enlisted in the Army as a 2nd LT. and was stationed at William Beaumont Army Hospital in El Paso, Texas. Upon his discharge from active duty in 1965 he briefly returned to work at Edmunson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, until moving to Los Angeles, California to work in the Los Angeles County Psychiatric Hospital. In 1974 Roger’s career took him to Portland, Oregon where he was employed at the Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Oregon. He returned to California in 1977 where he was employed for many years as Assistant Chief of Nursing Services for San Diego Mental Health Servies. During this time, he completed his obligation for his military service and resigned from his Army commission as a Captain. In 1992, Roger joined the San Diego Sheriff’s Department as Assistant Medical Services Administrator, remaining there until his retirement in July of 2000.
Roger, being the grandson of four Swedish grandparents, enjoyed genealogy and learning about his Swedish heritage. He also had an extensive knowledge of cars and a love of muscle cars.
Roger was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Shirley (Linden) Hill, and his brother-in-law Kenneth Hill. Left to cherish his memory are his nephew Jim (Kathy) Hill, niece Susan Hill, great-niece Julie (Jacob) Castellanos and great-great nieces Alexis and Mazie Castellanos and host of cousins and friends.
