OCTOBER 20, 1943 – APRIL 8, 2023
Salwa Habib Jabro was at home and surrounded by family when she passed away on Easter eve. She was born in 1943 in Baghdad, Iraq, was raised there and graduated from the University of Baghdad, and married Mansoor Jabro her best friend and husband of fifty-six years. They moved to the United States in 1965, first to Lincoln, Nebraska and then to Omaha, Nebraska where she raised her children and helped manage her husband’s private dental practice. In retirement they made La Jolla, California home. She was a daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, and aunt to her family, and a friend to her community. A generous woman, her home was open to many and there she hosted friends and family to share in her love of cooking and to celebrate life. She is survived by her sons Fabian Jabro, Andrew Jabro, and John Jabro, brothers Fawzi Hermes and Hani Hermes, and sisters Nicole Hermes and Tagrid Banfi. Salwa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mansoor Jabro, brother Ramzi Hermes, sister Shatha Hermes, and her brother Raad Hermes. She is dearly missed.
A funeral service for Salwa was held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at S. Peter Chaldean Catholic Cathedral, and she was interred at Holy Cross Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Dr, San Diego, CA 92102.
