William Mitchell

William was born in Los Angeles, CA to Augustine and Clara Mitchell. They raised him and his five siblings in San Diego, CA., two older brothers, Robert and Junior, his older sister Maria, and two younger brothers, Richard and Thomas.

After graduating from San Diego High, he served two years in the United States Army.

Married Judy Louise Koon and had two daughters, Louise and Kelly.

Retired from the Naval Air Station North Island in 1995 after 30 years of service.

Volunteered faithfully at the San Diego Servicemen’s Center since the late 1960’s, and later in the downtown area witnessing to our troops until his health began to fail in 2016.

He loved traveling, gardening, woodworking, painting, watching boxing, movies, witnessing to the personnel of all departments of the United States Military and all things sugar, especially ice cream.

William is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mitchell, two daughters, Louise and Kelly, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his sister and two younger brothers.

He passed away in his daughter’s home from Congestive Heart Failure.

His memorial service will be Thursday, July 28 at Miramar National Cemetery at 10:30am. 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, 92122 right off the 805.
