

Born June 18, 1947, in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late Edward Alexander Lachut and Agnes Elvira Lindberg Lachut.
He was a 1966 graduate of Pine Valley Central High School in South Dayton, NY. He earned his Master of Education degree from Southern Arkansas University.
He retired from SAU as a mental health counselor and a teacher in the graduate program in 2016. He was a Licensed Professional Counselor and taught graduate counseling classes including the training and supervision of licensed associate counselors. He was a former Gideon, an assistant Scoutmaster and a member of numerous other organizations over the years. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the Union County MDT Coordinator for child abuse.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, and writing inspirational messages to his friends and family on his Facebook page. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother, Charles Lachut, and two sisters, Shirley Stokes and Diane Green.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Johnson Lachut, of El Dorado, a son, Scott Lachut (Nancy) of Radcliff, KY; a daughter, Valerie Crawford (Chip) of El Dorado; his twin sister Andrea Herrington of Louisa, VA; grandchildren, Christina Petroski (Larry Jr.) of Lowell, AR, Dr. David Lachut (Amanda) of Ellicott City, MD, Rachel Lachut of Louisville, KY, Anna Craig of El Dorado, AR and Allen “A. J.” Craig of El Dorado, AR; great-grandchildren, Adam Petroski and on the way, Emilia Lachut and numerous nephews and nieces including Vicki Lindsay of Mesquite, TX.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, in Young’s Chapel with the Rev. Travis Langley officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
