Betty Jane New

Betty was born on September 21, 1944 in El Dorado to Margarett Cook Mellinger and George Mellinger Sr. She was a member of Three Creeks Baptist Church. Mimi was a homemaker and enjoyed spoiling her entire family. She loved cooking and was well known for her special chicken and dumplings. Her most treasured role was loving and caring for Papa for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Rev. Tommy Mellinger.

Survivors are her husband, Elwynn L. New, her sons, Mark New (Lisa) of El Dorado, Cliff New (Jenny) of Harmony Grove, two sisters, Martha Curry of Texarkana, and Judy Davis (R.K.) of Homeland, CA, and brother, Jim Mellinger of Yuma, AZ. Along with grandchildren; Josh New (Alison), Bethany Cheatham, Tamara Murray, and Cailin Holifield; and great-grandchildren; Hunter Cheatham, J. T. New and Bentley Holifield.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Three Creeks Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Margis officiating. Interment will follow at Three Creeks Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Young’s Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be made to Three Creeks Baptist Church, 8772 Haynesville Hwy, Junction City, AR 71749. The family will be at 5410 Oakwood Dr. in El Dorado.
