

Bobby was born on March 21, 1931 in England, AR; he was the son of Elisha and Annie Bostian Evans. Bobby retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after a career of 21 years. He was an Army Ranger and served his country in Vietnam. He was a recruiter for the army and obtained his pilot’s license.
Bobby lived a life of service to others as a deacon of Smackover First Baptist Church and Sunday School Director. He gave generously, not only of his money, but also of his time and talents. Everyone knew they could count on Bob to get the job done.
Bob loved his family and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and dedicated many hours to caring for them.
After his retirement he became an ROTC instructor at Fairview High School. He also worked on the family farm in England, Arkansas with his brothers, sons, daughter and nephews. He was a great “Mr. Fix-it” on everything from air conditioners and refrigerators to cars and tractors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dr. Matthew Lee Evans, a brother Toby Evans and a sister, Janita Hartwick.
Survivors are his wife of 68 years Mary O. Evans of Little Rock, son Michael Glenn (Angie) Evans of Colorado, daughter, Gladys "Gae" (Chuck) Hays of Little Rock, brothers: Eugene 'Rusty' (Judy) Evans of England, AR, and Norman R. Evans of England, AR, special in-laws, Elmer Givens, Brenda and Donald Law, Janis and Jerry Givens, and Mary Langley. Also surviving are grandchildren; Sterling (Daniel) Reep, Mary Kate (Jon) Penney, Madison (Carver) Rademacher, Mallory (Spencer) Roark, Michelle (Clint) Blake, Sara Lewis, John Trevor Thornton, Clint (Emily) Hays, and Charlie (Miranda) Hays, along with 6 great-grandchildren, with 2 more great-grandchildren soon to arrive and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, AR with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carly Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery with military honors.
