Preceding him in death were his parents, Troy and Ruth Rogers Mooty, his sisters, Margaret Lawrence and Bobbie Morlan and a brother Eli Mooty.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lillian Olene Jerry Mooty of El Dorado, a daughter, Janice Corley (Mervyn) of Norphlet. Also surviving are two brothers, Jerry Wayne Mooty and Jim Mooty both of Little Rock. Surviving grandchildren are Glynis Impson (Ted) of El Dorado and Boyd Corley (Lynn) of Little Rock and great-grandchildren, Lauryn Brannon (Beau) of Springdale, AR, Leslie Mann (Patrick) of Conway, AR, Sydney Corley, Natalie Corley and Emily Corley all of Little Rock.
Born on June 3, 1924, Charles grew up in the Dumas City community, west of El Dorado. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He and Olene were faithful members and loved their church family.
Mr. Mooty worked at the American Oil refinery for 39 years. He loved sharing memories about his years there. He and Olene owned the Party Shop for many years. After his retirement from American Oil, Charles began helping at the business by baking cookies and icing cakes. If you had asked him, he would have told you his specialty was Hello Dolly cookies. Mr. Mooty enjoyed watching football with his wife. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Friends and family would have described Charles as a happy person. He seemed to always have a smile on his face and so enjoyed making others laugh. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles would beam anytime the kids came into the room. The grandchildren enjoyed accompanying him to Hollingsworth Feed store to purchase feed. They knew that Papaw would most likely let them get a candy bar and soda pop too. Along with his smile, two other things were constant about Charles, you hardly ever saw him without a cap on his head and toward the end of a conversation, he was going to tell you not to take any wooden nickels. Mr. Mooty loved Jesus, loved his family and loved life.
