

Born November 28, 1950 in Union County, he was the son of Alfred Emanuel and Madie Lou Major Alphin. Donnie loved his family, was passionate and devout in his work and enjoyed all things “outdoors”; including gardening, camping, hunting and fishing.
Donnie retired in 2016 from Lion Oil as a Senior Measurement Specialist after having been employed 43 years. He served loyally in many labor and management positions with Lion Oil. He was known as “Big Dude” by his Lion Oil family.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were brothers, Alfred Emanuel Alphin, Jr. and Charles David Alphin and sisters, Janice Marie Alphin and Susan Joyce Alphin Miller, and a granddaughter, Victoria Paige Alphin.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Denise Keeton Alphin, his sons; Charles Richard Alphin (Kay), James Derek Alphin (Laura), David Paul Alphin (Tina), Matt Makepeace (Pat) and Kevin Makepeace (Ashley), siblings; Doug Alphin (Debra), Dennis Alphin (Rose), and Stacie Alphin Graves (Johnny). Also surviving are grandchildren, Chad Alphin, Gerrett Alphin, Megan Alphin, Doyne Alphin, Nicholas Makepeace, Brianna Alphin, Ashtyn Alphin, Drayton Makepeace, Lillian Alphin and Melonnie Makepeace along with great-grandchildren; Gabriel Alphin, Elizabeth Alphin and Waylon Alphin. There are also 13 nieces and nephews surviving.
A celebration of Donnie’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 14, 2016 in Young’s Chapel with Tommy Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Young’s Funeral Directors. The family will also receive friends at the Alphin residence at 428 Crain City Road.
