

Frank Edwin Humphreys, Jr. 83 of Smackover, AR, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Oak Ridge Nursing Home and Rehab. He was born December 9, 1927, to Frank Edwin Humphreys Sr. and Josephine Pound Humphreys. As a young man he helped his parents who owned Humphreys Dairy. Frank married Sara Vickers, February 27, 1953, in Smackover, AR. He was a former owner of Vickers Machine Shop. Frank served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Smackover, a Shriner, a 23rd Degree Mason, the past president of the Smackover Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, a Boy Scout Leader, and a licensed pilot, who enjoyed flying.
He was preceded in his death by his parents; and sister, Virginia Keller.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Sara Vickers Humphreys of Smackover; son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Kimberly Humphreys of Smackover; two brothers, Ted Humphreys and his wife Dorothy of Nashville, TN, Bob Humphreys and his wife Charme of Hot Springs, AR; step grandchildren, Elizabeth and Chris Bennett; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church of Smackover under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors and with Rev. Leon Dixon officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
