

He was born February 12, 1933 in Warren, AR to Phinies Weaver Sligh & Beulah Plair Sligh. Before retiring Freddie served as 1st Sgt. of Company A-3-155 Infantry in the National Guard. He was a member and past President of the Lions Club, Sons of Confederate Vets, a retired volunteer police officer with 20 years of service and was also a private investigator for 14 years as well as a member and Deacon of West Side Baptist Church since 1953.
Preceding him in death are his parents and great granddaughter, Lilly Claire Sandifer.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jean Moore Sligh; two sons, Glenn (Cathy) Sligh of El Dorado and Dr. Robert “Bruce” (Elena) Sligh of Yokota Air Force Base in Japan; two grandchildren, Katie Sandifer (Whit) of El Dorado and Jake (Hannah) Sligh of Little Rock, AR; a great grandson, Bennett Sandifer and two sisters, Betty Greenwood of Warren, AR and Patricia Powell of Waxahachia, TX.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at West Side Baptist Church with full military honors with Bro. Gerald Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove in New Edinburg, AR. under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Directors.
