

He was a retired forester for Anthony Forest Products, the Urbana Mill and was co-owner of Margie’s Grill with his late wife. Gordon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Urbana and the oldest living football player for the Strong Bulldogs. He enjoyed fishing and working in his vegetable garden. He survived the 1927 tornado in Strong as well as one in Hamburg in the 1940’s.
Preceding him in death are his parents; his wife, Margie Leona Turbeville Coleman; son, Kenneth Wayne Coleman; sisters, Vera Combs, Catherine Coleman and infant Ada Coleman; and brothers, David Ray Coleman, Sr and infant Paul Coleman.
Survivors include his two sons, John David Coleman (Mary) of Strong; Jerry Gordon Coleman (Tamra) of El Dorado, sister, Vernell Johnson of Junction City; eight grandchildren, Sara Coleman, Kelli Gathright, Tracey White, Faith Cherry, Blake Cherry, Steve Coleman, Susan Shaffer, Ramona Coleman; eleven great grandchildren; and four great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Scotty Guillot officiating. Burial will follow Strong Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Visitation will begin at 12:00 until service time in the Chapel.
