Irvin "Travis" Strickland Jr.

Irvin “Travis” Strickland, Jr., 77 of Smackover, passed away June 10, 2013, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. He was born April 2, 1936, to Irvin Travis Strickland, Sr. and Miriam Marie Rogers Strickland in Hampton, AR.

He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a retired veteran of the United State Air Force, and worked as a contract oil pumper for E&L Oil Co., Beebe Oil Co., and Lambert Oil Co.

Travis is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Margie Ruth Martindale.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Barker Strickland of Smackover; three daughters, Janet Creekmore of Houston, TX, Jo Rushing (Wayne) of Chandler, TX; Melinda Ruth Cook of Hope, AR; sister, Martha Brown (R.C.) of El Dorado; four grandchildren, James Travis Creekmore (Leslie) Houston,TX, Machelle Lea Lay (Robert) Houston,TX, Janelle Lynn Kim Houston,TX and Stephanie Frances Hoover Tyler, TX; five great grandchildren, Sydney Kim, Lorie Kim, Mia Creekwood, Madison Creekmore all of Houston, TX and Jon Donovan Hoover of Tyler, TX; several nieces and nephews; and a lot of friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013, at Young’s.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Young’s Chapel with Tommy Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
