

Laura was born on November 19, 1944 in Byrneville, Indiana to the late Rev. Edgar Walls and Lorain Byrne Walls.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles Walls, and Herb Walls, and a sister, Shirley Williams.
Laura is survived by her husband of forty years, Robert Walker, step-daughter, Sandy Carpenter (Mark), granddaughters, Dr. C. Lauren Monteith (Rob), and Laney Sideroff, great grandchildren, Collin and Ellyson Kate, a brother, Kenny Walls (Nancy), sister, Dorothy Ferber, and step-grandchildren, Claire Griffin (Gabe), and Christopher Carpenter, and several nieces and nephews.
Laura was a devoted wife of forty years. She worked for Gilles Pharmacy in Clinton, Indiana for 33 years. She later was co-owner of a laundromat and Walker Trucking, and a worker at MCL Cafeteria. She retired after 20 years from Vigo County Schools/West Vigo School Cafeteria.
Laura enjoyed playing the piano and the organ for a number of churches in the Terre Haute area for many years.
Laura was blessed with many friends, family, co-workers, and church family members who helped her during her battle with cancer before relocating to Arkansas.
The family would like to thank the Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church in Terre Haute, Indiana for all of the love and help they provided, West Vigo School staff for their support and fundraising in Laura’s honor, MCSA staff, and doctors, Courtyard Health and Rehabilitation staff, John R. Williamson Hospice House staff, and First United Methodist Church in El Dorado for the care in this difficult time.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church, 1401 Barbour Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 22, at the Old Parker’s Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Bob Roush officiating. Services are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
