Joyce taught school for 39 years with her special love of teaching, both children and adults, to read. She was a member of Norphlet United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and played the piano. She enjoyed sports, especially basketball playing in both high school and college. She enjoyed being outdoors and shared hunting and fishing activities with the people she loved most, her family.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Auby Gene McEachern.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Cathy Long (David) of Norphlet, Becky Hannegan (David) of El Dorado; grandchildren, Ken Long of Norphlet, Doug Long of Camden, Adam Long of Austin, TX, Sarah Johnson (Shawn) of El Dorado, Aaron Hannegan of El Dorado; and great grandchildren, Cody Long (Michaela), Alexis Long, Alexander Johnson, Michael Johnson, Ganon Johnson; and great, great granddaughter, Aria Long.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Young’s Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Norphlet United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Newberry and Jimmy Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Atlanta Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
