

Miriam attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. After graduation she served as a hostess for the GM&O Railroad and ultimately enjoyed a long career in banking until she retired as vice president of Trustmark National Bank in Jackson, MS. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, serving as treasurer, in Jackson, MS and attended First Baptist Church, El Dorado, where she was a member of the Prime Timers. While in El Dorado she was a member of the Healthworks Fitness Center senior friends class. Affectionately known as “Aunt Mim”, she was loved by all who knew her.
Miriam was preceded in by her parents; her brother, Seymour C. Jones, Jr.; her sister, Katherine Murfee; and a nephew, John A. Murfee, Jr.
Survivors include her nephew, Dr. Robert Murfee and wife Diane of El Dorado; her niece, Suzanne Murfee of Emerson, GA; great nieces, Molly Murfee of Crested Butte, CO, Mandy Murfee of Wilmington, NC, Missy Ketchum and husband Will of Jacksonville, FL; great nephew, John A. Murfee, III and wife Alison of Nashville, TN; three great-great nephews, and one great-great niece.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Father Charles Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Okolona, MS., at 10:00 a.m. November 30, 2015.
The family is grateful for the wonderful and loving care given by her caregivers Betty Ball and Linda Littleton.
