

Born on November 11, 1938 in McKeesport, PA; he was the son of Michael and Mary Rose Caparoso Macchiarolo. He was a teacher, consultant, and retired chemical industry manager with 41 years of experience as a chemical engineer and senior engineering and process development manager. He taught Total Quality Management in Great Britain and Canada. He has been awarded two U.S. patents and has published two technical papers.
Nick earned a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. He was in the very first class of National Merit Scholars to be awarded scholarships.
Through the years he chaired and worked with numerous committees, boards, clubs, and foundations. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher, trustee chair, and building committee member. In 1996, Nick received the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce “Five Who Care” award. He served his country in the Army Corps of Engineers from 1960 – 1968 on active duty and in the Army Reserves.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Nick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ginny; daughter, Elizabeth Macchiarolo Shier (Wesley) of Fort Worth; sons, David Thomas Macchiarolo (Debbie) of High Point, NC; Mark Alan Macchiarolo of El Dorado; Matthew Lee Macchiarolo (Linda) of South Lyon, MI; brother, Michael Macchiarolo(Patricia) of Bedford, PA; and eight grandchildren; Brittany, Erin, Jonathan, and Nicolas Shier; Alan, Abigail, and Samuel Macchiarolo; and Aaron Phelps (Holly).
A memorial service honoring Nick’s life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Saturday, December 17 at 11 AM followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 10562, El Dorado, AR 71731; the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 201 S. Hill; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
