Norma Jean Woods Jerry

She was born at home as so many were in that day. She grew up near Old Hillsboro area and after marriage continued her life there, raising three children and three of her grandchildren. Many times Jean talked about the simpler way of life that she and her siblings enjoyed growing up. She would say “we had nothing, but no one else did either” and we were all happy and felt blessed.

Jean attended Pleasant Grove School thru the 8th grade and completed her education at El Dorado High School when consolidation of schools began. Immediately afterwards she met R.J. Jerry who stole her heart and became the love of her life, six months later on April 30, 1948, they married and enjoyed 69 years together. She enjoyed good times and endured sad times in her journey of life. Her children and grandchildren will always remember her devotion to family, her strength of character and her unconditional love for each of them. She was the rock of the family. Belief in her Lord and Savior will always be remembered by loved ones and her many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, George and Grace Murray Woods; husband, R.J. Jerry; children, Judith Annette Jerry, Joanna Jerry Bryan; grandson, J.P. Bryan; great granddaughter, Miranda Anne Jerry; sister, Edna Price; and brother, Malcolm Woods.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Lynn Jerry (Vivian), Danny Ray Jerry (JoAnn), sister, Mary Waldo; grandchildren, Jan Loftin (Todd), Dawn Dickson (Matt Benjamin), Mark Jerry (Jennifer), Candace Hargis (Keith), Elizabeth Ramey (Chris), Casie Eads, great grandchildren, Scott Loftin (Allyson), Hunter Dickson, Ashlynn Dickson, Bradley Rockefeller, Jenna Rockefeller, Logan Patton, Jaxson Hargis, Nolan Hargis, Addison Dopson, Lee Ann Ramey, Katie Eads, Kyle Eads; and great,great granddaughter, Averi Belle Loftin.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Young's.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Young's Chapel with Rev. Robert Lee and Bro. Tommy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
