After graduating in 1955 from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ, with a degree in agriculture he worked chiefly in Arkansas as a dedicated salesman of agriculture goods for much of his life.
For twenty years, in the latter part of his life, he was co-manager together with his wife, Sarah, of Heritage Hill Manor in Helena Arkansas. He was a veteran of WWII, serving four years in the Air Force. He was a member of First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sarah Harris.
Survivors include his two daughters; Renny McGovern of Phoenix, AZ, Joan Harris of England, UK, and his son, Gene Harris of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Sean McGovern, Teresa McGovern Bigelow, and Christine McGovern; and one great grandson, William Bigelow.
A graveside burial service will be held at 2PM, July 12, 2011, at the Bruce family plot in Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway, AR under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors and with Rev. Ben Early officiating.
