

Richard was born on February 13, 1933 in Crosbyton, TX; he was the son of Grover C and Eugenia Boggs Bidwell. He retired as a leakage surveyor from Arkla Gas after 30 years. Richard was a veteran serving as an airman in the Navy in the early 50's. Richard was known locally as the 'Candyman' for passing out candy. Richard enjoyed cooking the produce from his garden, feeding birds and fishing. Richard and Nella both enjoyed traveling.
He was of the Presbyterian faith and read his Bible every day. Richard was a Lay Minister at numerous area churches including Westminster Presbyterian, Scotland Presbyterian, Mt Holly Presbyterian, Cumberland Presbyterian, Ebenezer Presbyterian and Faith Southern Methodist Churches.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Robert Bidwell, Jack Bidwell, David Bidwell, Jay F. Bidwell, and Grover E. Bidwell.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years Nella Stringer Bidwell; daughters Dr. Tracie Ellerman of Ruston, LA and Karen Todd and Sid of El Dorado; sisters Camilla Butler and Jack of Burnet, TX and Kathryne Delap and Jim of Prairie Grove, AR ; along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Tuesday, in the Chapel of Young's Funeral Directors with Rev. Davidson Bidwell and Rev. Patrick Fleming officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the medical staff of MCSA, 2nd floor physical therapy, and one day surgery nurses for the loving care provided to Richard throughout the years.
