Born April 7, 1973, in El Dorado, Arkansas, he was the son of Robert E. and Connie S.
Bates. He was a production worker at Viking Industries and was a member of Harmony Baptist
Church.
Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Jesse Eugene Bates and Lawson Greer; and
grandmother, Elizabeth Florence Bates.
Survivors include his parents; brother, Timothy Bates of El Dorado; sister, Karen A. Strachan
and her husband, Staff Sergeant Stacy Strachan of Duncan, Oklahoma; maternal grandmother,
Callie Greer of El Dorado; nephews, Austin Jamison and Philip Jackson Strachan; and niece,
Staci Elizabeth Strachan.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Lawson Baptist
Church with Rev. Don H. Travis officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery
under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Monday, December 26, 2011, at the funeral home.
