He was a retired night watchman for Anthony Sawmill and was a member of Green Grove Assembly of God Church. He was a very kind, simple man that loved to fish and hunt and he loved his church.
Preceding him in death along with his parents, are his siblings, Harold Murphy, Bill Murphy, Joe Murphy, Gene Murphy, Ruby Sharrick, Hazel Roberts, and Nelda Wooten.
Survivors include his sister, Patsy Rodgers of El Dorado; sister-in-law, Shirley Murphy of Bossier City, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hudson Memorial Nursing Home for their care over the past few years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Green Grove Assembly of God Church with Rev. Charlie Smith and Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Green Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
