Wanda C. Smith

Wanda Christine Smith, 86 of El Dorado passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House. She was born March 12, 1931, in El Dorado, and was the daughter of Robert and Birdie Lawrence Pyle.

During Wanda’s life, she was a member of Cupples’ Bowling Team and competed in tournaments all over the United States. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, an avid Razorback fan, and was a long-time member of Parkview Baptist Church. After her husband passed away, she worked at the El Dorado High School cafeteria long enough to earn a retirement, but she didn’t stop there. She went on to get a job at Wal-Mart, and is affectionately known by many as the “Wal-Mart Greeter.” Even though she was in her 80’s, she didn’t let that stop her from mastering the iPhone. She loved keeping up with her many friends and family on Facebook, Instagram and occasionally Snapchat.

Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husband, Frank M. Smith, Sr.; a sister, Maxine Pyle; a brother, Robert L. Pyle, Jr. and a grandson, Christopher Culpepper.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Frank M. “Mackey” Smith, Jr. (Donna) of El Dorado, two daughters, Carroll Baldridge (Jack) of Athens, Texas and Sandra Kay Culpepper (Barry) of Sheridan, AR and a sister, Shirley Dolden (Billy) of Junction City, AR along with her beloved toy poodle, Honey Lynn Smith. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tina Hailey (Scott), Ashley Finton (Jay), Jennifer Clarke (Robert), Stacie Morris (Rick) and Courtney Culpepper along with 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Young’s.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Young’s Chapel with Rev. Gerald Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
