I was trying to call your Father and no response and I decided to check the intetnet for their number only to find out he had passed away. I am 71 years old and I have known your father that long. I first met my uncle Abelardo "Joe" while roller skating as a child, on Athens Ct. in El Paso Texas, when my aunt Kika brought him to meet the family, and I remember thinking then, what a sweet person he seemed to be. As the years went on, and I got older, my opinion of him never changed. I always used to enjoy watching him perspire on Sundays, after he had eaten my grandmother's  weekly chicken soup, or caldo de res. He was always so humble and appreciative.

I remember when I was working with special education students in EP, and the bus door opened for one of our school field trips, there he was, at my surprise, with his smile and his general good attitude, and I knew then, if he was the one driving the bus, we were in good hands. Years later, when my own kids were younger, and we were carless for a few weeks, he did us the greatest favor of taking us to work and to school, and again, with his unfaltering selflessness, and that everlasting smile.

I got to speak to him for the last time via phone one week ago today, at my aunt Kika's suggestion, and he was as sharp as I always remember him, and he sent his regards to all my kids, including my son-in-law.

To my aunt Kika, my cousins Charlie, Lupe, and Bonnie, all the grandkids, and all the greatgrand kids, I will pray God help you through your grief, but please try to remember the many happy times you had with him, and most importantly, that he is at peace now.
